Recently, I got invited to an event on Facebook entitled "Art-a-day 7/10". Basically, the idea of the event was that every day, you try to do at least one creative thing. It could be something you spend hours on, or a simple doodle on a napkin. After spending a few days eagerly awaiting July to start, I realized: why wait? So, my goal for the rest of the summer (at least) is to make one form of art every day, and document it. Wish me luck!

Mission not accomplished :(
As you can tell, between packing, and traveling back and forth between Binghamton, Massachusetts, and NYC, I haven't had nearly the time I thought I would for crafting. So, I'm going back to my old blog, cookiesncrafts.blogspot.com. Basically, I blog when I can about crafts I make and things I cook, and general musings about crafty endeavors. So, ta-ta for now, and see you around the interwebs!

Craft #15: the beginning of another die necklace and an apology
Dear Bleeps (Twitter people call their followers tweeps, QED blog followers are bleeps)
Firstly, I'd like to apologize for my unexcused absense. I took an impromptu trip to NYC and it pretty much threw off my schedule. But now that it is officially July, I plan on starting this project f'reals. So here goes.
I started another die necklace today. Due to overcoming my summer ennui, I only got about halfway through. And also, I can't seem to locate my USB/SD converter, so you all will get pictures tomorrow. And the day after, and the day after. Because I am determined!

Craft #14: more bag embroidery
Today was kind of a lazy day. I did some more work on my bag, as shown by this not so great picture. I'm actually not so happy about how the mouth turned out, but I really don't want to rework it. Tomorrow I'll try to get the eyes and nose, but those are the parts I'm most worried about. We shall see!

Craft #13: the beginning of a bag, plus muffins
Today, I did two crafts. Firstly, I started a bag I plan on wearing at San Diego Comic-Con this year. I'm embroidering felt onto a black canvas bag into the shape of one of my favorite comic characters, Delirium of the Endless from Neil Gaiman's Sandman (pictured above). So far, the bag isn't turning out exactly how I want it, but then again, when does anything ever in the crafting world?
Muffins are delicious. Today, I made banana oat muffins with chocolate chips and cherry jelly in the middle. I used a recipe I found online, but added the chocolate chips and jelly on a whim. Considering how many my boyfriend is eating right now, I'd say they turned out pretty well. ;)

Craft #12: Die necklace - WIP
Today's project is a work in progress. I put it together with some beads I had lying around, but I'm not sure how I feel about the seed beads I used for the necklace part. I didn't attach any clasps to the end of the wires, so I might scrap the whole thing and redo it when I get some new beads.
I'm finding it hard to get accurate colors in my pictures...I'm not sure if it's the lighting or my camera or both. Any suggestions for better photographing?

Craft #11: Dice earrings
Okay, so this is a project I've been wanting to do for...I don't even know. Over a year. Finally, I caved and bought a cheapo drill at AC Moore today. It works well enough. I pretty much got what I paid for. In the process of making these, I learned two important lessons. 1: Drills melt plastic. 2: Melted plastic gets stuck to drill bits. Who'da thunk.

Craft #10: I illustrated my day
Tonight, I am tired. I think this illustration pretty much sums up why. In case you can't make out the pictures, my day includes cleaning Barry's car, way too much ice cream, and grocery shopping. Goodnight!

Craft #9: I sewed buttons today!
Okay, so I realize this is a little late, but I forgot to post before going downtown tonight. Sorry! Also, no pictures yet because I'm very slightly too intoxicated to bother with the camera. But. Today I got my package from a craft swap I participated in through craftster.com. The package contained a wrap skirt that I had to sew the buttons on my self to make fit. And I sewed the hell out of those buttons. So anyway, I'll post that picture tomorrow probably. Have a lovely night!

Craft #6: ghost earrings
I need to stop taking pictures in my basement...the lighting here is terrible. Anyway, I've had these ghost beads laying around since the summer, but haven't been able to figure out what to do with them. Well, the pressure of today's craft got my creative juices flowing and here it is! (Have I mentioned Halloween is my favorite holiday?)

Craft #5: peace sign earrings
Pretty simple craft today. I drove home from school today, so I've been in the car for most of the day and am pretty much wiped. As for the picture itself, I know the flash sucks for these types of things, but this was the picture that got closest to the actual color of the earrings. The peace signs are some beads I picked up at the awesome bead store in Vestal (MAT's Beads). Also, I'm about to post yesterday's craft pictures, so go back and take a look! (You won't regret it, I promise)

Craft #4: bracelet for a friend
EDIT:
Here it is! I made this bracelet for a good friend of mine for graduation. It's based on a bracelet I designed for myself to wear for my brother's Bar Mitzvah (I'll post a picture of that later, perhaps). All the beads are Swarovski crystals, so it sparkles in any light.

By the way, many of the projects you see here will eventually make it up to my Etsy page. Check back periodically for new additions!

And, just because I'm really proud of these, here's some sushi we made a couple months ago!:

Craft #1: dictionary bracelet for an English teacher
Story: This year, I interned with a 9th grade English teacher at the local high school. For the end of the year, I wanted to give her something in appreciation. Since she's an English teacher, and often brags about having read the dictionary (twice!), I figured something dictionary-themed would be appropriate.
